Preliminaries

Online Printing System is a prepress process that bridges the gap between online digital content and commercial print production. The process allows a print house, a client or a graphic designer to create, edit, and approve computer-based online templates during the prepress phase. This process increasingly calls for a Portable Document Format (PDF) workflow environment with output provided by digital printing.

This solution will make your company run more efficiently and profitably by streamlining your business processes, maximizing your resources and eliminating redundant operations.

These two acronyms mean essentially the same thing. PPI (Pixels per inch) is a reference to the resolution of an electronic image (i.e. how many individual pixels are present within one inch of a digital display).  DPI (Dots per inch) simply refers to the resolution on a printed image (i.e. how many dots of ink are displayed in a single inch). The PPI on a digital image will translate to the same DPI measurement when that image is printed. The lower the PPI or DPI, the lower the resolution of your image. The default PPI for many digital images is 72. This is typically not adequate when printing the image because the resulting print would appear grainy or fuzzy. The standard recommended DPI and/ or PPI of any non-vector image is 300.

Your artwork files should typically be 300 dpi. Low-resolution files may be printed as is or will be placed on hold until we receive new files, slowing your turn-around.

A vector file (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) is the best possible file to upload because those files can scale to any size. You may also upload the following file types: JPEG, PNG, and TIF. We prefer that you send PDF with embedded or outlined fonts. PDF files are easier to handle and will likely speed up your turn-around. If possible, flatten your files before uploading.

The short answer is, use a vector file if you can. If you are working with JPEG, PNG, TIF or other raster-type images, it can be difficult to meet the minimum resolution requirement. Small products meant to be viewed up close (like a business card) must be 300 DPI (PPI). For larger products like banners and posters, you can usually get away with a lower DPI (PPI). Our design tool only shows a warning if your file is lower than the recommended DPI (PPI).

There is also viewing distance to consider: Resolution matters much more for ground-level applications. The farther the viewing distance, the lower your resolution can be. For example if a banner is hanging 20' up in the air, then you can can allow for a DPI of 50. Once in the air at a 20 foot viewing distance, you won't notice any pixelation. Below is our formula to determine the smallest resolution an average person with 20/20 vision could discern and still keep edges in an image looking "Sharp," depending on viewing distance:

If you take the viewing distance (in feet) and divide that into 1000 it will give you a minimum DPI (PPI) for that viewing distance. For example, 1000 / 20 ft = 50 DPI (PPI).  You actually wouldn't be able to discern the individual pixels at a 3rd of that resolution (15 DPI) but the apparent sharpness is adversely affected below 50 DPI (PPI).

Our sizes are shown as Width by Height (WxH) for all products. Note that, due to certain constraints on the width of some products (like outdoor banners), the file may need to be uploaded in a vertical orientation (e.g. 48”x120”). You can still create or upload a horizontal design, but you will be viewing it sideways in the design tool. Don't worry, it will still print horizontally.

If there is a specific size you need and you don't see it, reach out to us and we will see how we can help!

Please allow for 5-7 business days

Your designs should always start and finish in CMYK color mode. If you send us an RGB or Pantone file, there is a chance that a color shift may occur and you may not be satisfied with your job.

After placing your order, and once the order has shipped, you will receive a UPS Ground tracking number.

We will make it right. Please reach out to us if there is a problem with your order.

Products

The site currently supports eight major and popular print products as listed. We are shortly going to introduce more products like logos/mailing labels, vinyl stickers, catalogs, banners, calendars, door hangers and raised ink cards.

There are three options for designing and customizing a product. Click a product on the left-hand panel and choose one of the options.

1. Custom Design: lets you customize the products. Click it to open the design studio and use multiple tools to create your own design.

2. Upload Design: using this option, you can upload your own JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, EPS, AI, PDF and PSD images.

3. Browse Design: use this to select hundreds of pre-loaded templates. Work on them or customize them through our design studio.

The type of paper used for difference purposes is expressed in weight. In the countries following the European system, it is grammes per square metre (gsm or g/m2 or simply g) and in the US system it is Pound (lb).

The paper used for writing/printing (letterheads and such stationery) is generally between 60 to 120 gsm (20 to 70 lb) and is called the paper or text stock. Anything heavier than this is considered the card stock, i.e. the paper used for business cards, postcards, greeting cards, etc.

Coated papers are available in two finishes – glossy (shiny and smooth) and matt (flat and lusterless). Coated glossy papers reflect the light evenly so they are suitable for almost all types of printing jobs. Glossy papers have a good ink holdout, which is important for creating sharp, bright images.

See each individual product page to see requirements for bleed and resolution. As a general rule, the resolution on your file should be 300 DPI and you should add a half inch of bleed to each side of your artwork. Note that banners do not usually require bleed to be added to the design.

Printing

Our system supports RGB (red, green, blue) for producing digital prints. We have accurately mapped color pallet to match RGB to CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, key) to ensure proper 4-color printing.

300 dpi (dots per inch) is the resolution of the output PDF file.

We use offset printing, which provides the highest quality of print material for both text and images.

Pricing

No, the price list indicates basic prices of products against the speculative quantities. The prices are calculated with regard to the most basic paper/card types, sizes and single side printing. As you know, the final printing cost depends on many parameters: paper/card weights or thickness (GSM/Pt), glossy or matt finish, 2 or 4 colors, square or rounded corners, single or double side printing, quantity, destination shipping charges and the mode of transport. Please use the indicative prices for calculating the basic cost. Once you place the order using the above parameters, we will quickly mail you the final, exact cost.
